The Learning Never Stops: A Creative Retreat for Juggling Teachers

Tuesday 31 March-Saturday 4 April 2026 Gricigliana (Reachable from Florence)

Five immersive days to finally dedicate time to your own juggling, creativity, and artistic growth — time you rarely get, and deeply deserve.

This retreat is designed specifically for juggling teachers and circus educators who teach juggling — whether it’s your specialty or a small part of a broader curriculum. If you’ve long wished to deepen your personal practice so you can teach with more confidence, presence, and inspiration, this is your space.

Why this retreat is different

You’ll train using the experiential pedagogy from Pearls of Juggling, with its focus on mindful practice, creativity, play, rhythm, and the development of expressive movement. This is not just a techniques workshop — it’s a full-body, whole-person approach to juggling.

Led by Anthony Trahair

Anthony has devoted the last 30 years to exploring and teaching creative and expressive juggling.
Author of Pearls of Juggling — now in Italian, English, German, and Spanish — he brings a lifetime of research into flow, play, movement, and artistry.

A graduate of the Dimitri Theatre School in Switzerland (three years of physical theatre, movement, and clowning), Anthony blends:

  • Tai Chi

  • Yoga for jugglers

  • Mindful movement

  • Creative exploration

  • Community living and group connection

His approach is unique, warm, and deeply rooted in practice.

A place to be inspired

Set in a quiet chestnut forest in Tuscany, far from distractions, this retreat creates a powerful container for both personal practice and shared learning. The environment itself invites you to slow down, reconnect, and rediscover your curiosity.

  • time to deepen their own practice

  • inspiration to bring back to their students

Retreat Testimonials

Jimi xxx

“Working with Anthony has had a profound effect on me both mentally and physically. Throughout the days I experienced both diligent technique and outbursts of radical joyous unregulated play… Above and beyond the technical work in Tai Chi, Yoga, Movement… a vital comradery of cooking for each other… A balance is struck between personal research/training and ensemble/guided work… I feel that I have found this here, in Italy… That is a feeling that I have not felt for many years in Juggling. I highly recommend this workshop.”

Paolo

“These days gave me the opportunity to take a look inside my perception of Juggling… explore new ways of trick and sequence creation, as well as making a journey to your inner self and reflecting old habits and ways. The course is very intense and brought me to my borders physically and mentally. I am happy I took this course because it enriched my juggling and myself… Anthony is a great teacher, juggler, and human being!”

Fidel

“An incredible intensive experience, I got more connected with body through yoga, tai chi, qi gong… meditations, breathing exercises and other mindful practices… you got so many enriched tools for your practice… a good base in juggling with movement, with emotions. After the retreat you are able to use and be aware of so many different aspects in juggling… different benefits to your juggling and life.”

Jimmy

“This workshop was a fresh look at the lesser-known fundamentals of juggling. How to think down, breathe better, stand still and move… creation processes we used were very powerful and useful… The workshop was a surprising spiritual journey, at times greatly challenging and times a taste of paradise.”

Richard

“I learned about yoga, qi gong, and taichi. I experienced my body in an unusual way and got inspiration for my own practice… developed sequences which is the base of a well-structured performance. I feel more confident… with other people. I learned about giving workshops and teaching… emotions and how they are connected to posture… people and group dynamics and about myself.”
